David R. Chapman, MD

Dr. Chapman enjoys the practice of gynecology and the enormous satisfaction he receives by helping his patients. He has patients who he has followed for 25-30 years. Some were children he delivered during his former obstetrical practice.

Dr. Chapman received his BA from Emory, and his MD from the University of Miami, where he also completed his Internship and Residency. He served in the Air Force before returning to Florence in 1977 to begin private OB-GYN practice. He is affiliated with both McLeod Regional Medical Center and Carolinas Hospital System. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Chapman and his wife Diane have three children, Lauren, Thad and Ansley, and are members of First Presbyterian Church.

He has continued his medical education as follows:

He has a particular interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery endeavors. In 2003 he became a Charter member of the Gynecologic Society for minimally invasive Uterine Disorders.

In 2004 he served as host surgeon and instructor for a McLeod Health Symposium for local surgeons and a national audience on less invasive hysterectomy techniques. In 2005 he performed LSH surgery live over a web cast* to a worldwide audience.
